The Word of God: Authors' Intentions vs. Translators' Influences
How dare colonial translators and religious interpreters attempt to sway
our thinking and obscure the authors' original meaning with their
culture-biased, misguided renderings? We must return to the pure wellspring of
what the original Hebrew authors recorded under the inspiration of the Almighty
Author himself.
The Torah is not limited to the five books of Moses - the Psalms enshrine
the Torah in praise, Proverbs and wisdom literature reveal the Torah's wisdom
teachings, and the Prophets unveil the Torah's futuristic proclamations. Even
the Gospels present the Torah's complete embodiment in the person of the Living
Messiah and pathway to salvation.
We must firmly reject Christianity's hubris in granting primacy to the
fallible interpretations of latter-day translators over the Hebrew authors who
recorded scripture under divine unction. Their role was to faithfully
translate, not innovate a Hellenized religion counter to the authors' teachings
and Hebrew worldview.
Let us return to the pure, unadulterated words and minds of the original
authors as our highest authority. Their writings alone deserve our allegiance -
not institutionalized religion's corrupted renderings seeking to constrain
their transcendent truth.
